We were delighted to bring our Patron HRH The Duke of Gloucester to Wanstead Grotto to see works in progress. The Duke met the City of London’s Epping Forest Chairman Graeme Doshi-Smith, Verderer Nicholas Munday, John Sharpe and Richard Arnopp from Friends of Wanstead Parklands as well as young refugees as part of our Proud Places programme. The Duke is Ranger of Epping Forest as well as HOLT’s Patron.

HOLT is at London Craft Week this year with Meet the Makers Behind London’s Heritage. The talk will take place on the first day of the London-wide event this year on May 9th at the fabulous Firmdale Soho Hotel.


We have three amazing speakers; miniature model maker Isabella Gilding, expert Gilder Sue Lee and stained-glass restorer Peter Campling joining HOLT Director Dr Nicola Stacey and celebrated designer and HOLT Trustee Kit Kemp MBE in conversation.


There will be demonstrations, a chance to have a go yourself and a gift bag to take home.


The day will run as follows:

  • Peter Campling, stained glass restoration - Chapel Studio 11 am – 12 pm

  • Sue Lee, gilding - Eskdale Restoration 12 pm – 1 pm

  • Isabella Gilding, Model-maker 4 pm – 5 pm

It was wonderful to see our Galleywall Bell project make the front page of South London Press on Friday. The story was also featured on the Southwark news website. Thanks to Delancey for supporting this project and to all the Galleywall pupils who have been so excited about the return of their bell!
